Kang Hyung-joo Appointed as Chairperson of the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee

Kang Hyung-joo, the former Chief Judge of the Seoul Central District Court, has been appointed as the chairperson of the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee for the 20th term. According to News1 on the 25th, the new chairperson will commence his duties today for a term of two years.
Kang graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in law and passed the 23rd Judicial Examination. He has held various significant positions, including serving as a presiding judge at the Seoul High Court, the head of the Court Administration Office, and the Chief Judge of the Seoul Central District Court. Following his judicial career, he has been active as a lawyer.
The Government Public Officials Ethics Committee is responsible for overseeing the registration of assets for senior public officials, including political appointees, public officials from central administrative agencies, and public officials at local governments and educational authorities who hold positions at or above level 3. The committee consists of a total of 13 members, including the chairperson, nine appointed members, and four members appointed by government ministries, tasked with reviews and disclosures of registered assets as well as employment reviews for retired public officials.
