Samsung C&T Corporations construction division has developed a groundbreaking technology to create finishing materials that resemble real wood while being easy to maintain. On September 9, the company announced its next-generation finishing material technology, Next Material, utilizing digital vision. This technology employs advanced digital printing to replicate the visual and tactile characteristics of natural materials like wood and marble at a level comparable to the actual products.

In collaboration with the German surface technology company Schattdecor, Samsung C&T has enhanced the tactile and durability aspects of existing digital printing products by developing a special synchronized design technology, which has already been patented. The jointly developed Next Material combines the practicality of engineered wood flooring (flooring with a wood pattern applied over plywood) with the luxurious qualities of solid wood flooring.

Traditional engineered wood flooring is limited by design constraints, such as a maximum of four colors and repeating patterns every 1.3 meters. In contrast, Next Material boasts a resolution that is more than four times higher, with no restrictions on design colors, specifications, or patterns.

Samsung C&T stated, "By analyzing natural wood, we can replicate identical colors and patterns, creating the unique feel and sophisticated ambiance of real wood. This allows us to provide high-quality flooring at a reasonable price." The company also highlighted that the new technology offers enhanced durability and stain resistance, resulting in less discoloration over extended use.

This innovative technology will first be applied as flooring and wall finishing materials in the Raemian Elavin residential complex, scheduled for occupancy in August 2028, located in Banghwa-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, as part of a redevelopment project.

Samsung C&T emphasizes that this initiative is a core element of its next-generation residential model, Next Home, which aims to redefine modern living spaces with advanced materials and sustainable solutions.
