Among the highlights is renowned fortepiano master Ronald Brautigam from the Netherlands, alongside distinguished pianists such as Paul Lewis and Stephen Huff. The hall has also appointed baritone Kim Tae-han as its resident musician for the year.
On December 10, the Kumho Cultural Foundation announced the schedule for major performances set to take place at the Kumho Art Hall, which is located on the Yonsei University Sinchon campus in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. As the resident musician, Kim Tae-han will present a series of performances themed Persona, with the first show occurring on January 8 and three additional performances throughout the year. The term persona originally referred to the masks used by actors in ancient Greek theater, but today it signifies the various facets of an individuals identity.
In addition to his Persona performances, Kim will showcase an Opera Gala on April 23, followed by a concert of French songs on July 2, and conclude with Schuberts Winterreise on October 15.
As part of its Kumho Exclusive concert series featuring international music masters, Ronald Brautigam is set to perform on May 28. He will utilize the fortepiano, the predecessor of the modern piano, to deliver masterpieces from the Classical era by composers such as Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. Paul Lewis, having delved into Schuberts music for three years since 2022, will return in 2024 and again in 2027 for the Mozart Plus series.
Stephen Huff, who performed at the Kumho Art Hall in 2024, will host a recital on November 19, blending works from German Romantic composers like Beethoven, Schumann, and Brahms with pieces from 20th-century composers such as Schoenberg and Stockhausen.
Furthermore, the Kumho Art Hall aims to introduce young musicians through its Young Odyssey series scheduled for July. This initiative is designed to provide a platform for emerging talents in the classical music scene, showcasing their artistry and contributing to the vibrant cultural landscape of the hall.
With a diverse range of performances planned, Kumho Art Hall is set to be a significant hub for music lovers in 2024, promising a rich experience filled with classical masterpieces and innovative interpretations.
