Victor Cha Predicts Trump Will Support South Korean Presidents North Korea Strategy

Victor Cha, the Korea Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), predicted on the 24th that U.S. President Donald Trump will support South Korean President Lee Jae-myungs North Korea strategy known as END (Exchange-Normalization-Denuclearization).
According to Yonhap News, during an online briefing, Cha stated, "There should be no issues with President Trump supporting the END initiative." He analyzed that President Trump views the END strategy as part of efforts to bring North Korea to the negotiating table.
President Trump is expected to visit South Korea for a summit with President Lee on the 29th, coinciding with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. Cha remarked that if the U.S.-South Korea trade negotiations reach an agreement during Trumps visit, the summit would likely proceed very smoothly. He added, "However, even if no agreement is reached, they (the U.S. and South Korean leaders) will still make an effort to maintain a positive atmosphere."
This suggests that both South Korea and the United States have incentives to maintain their alliance amidst ongoing negotiations.
Chas insights reflect the complex dynamics of the region and the importance of diplomatic efforts in addressing North Koreas nuclear ambitions while fostering bilateral relations.
