Ben Griffin, a former employee at a real estate mortgage company, has made a remarkable ascent in the world of professional golf, securing his place among the elite of the PGA Tour with three wins this season.

On October 10, Griffin shot a stunning 9-under par 63 in the final round of the Worldwide Technology Championship held at El Cardonal in Los Cabos, Mexico. With a total score of 29-under par 259, he finished two strokes ahead of co-runners-up Chad Ramey and Sami Valimaki, both at 27-under par 261. This victory earned him a prize of $1.08 million (approximately 15.7 billion KRW).

Griffin is often referred to as an icon of life turnaround. After turning professional in 2018 and playing on the PGA Tour Canada, he struggled to make a significant impact in 2019 while competing on the Korn Ferry Tour, leading to financial difficulties. At one point, he faced credit card debt of $17,000 (approximately 25 million KRW). During this challenging period, he took a break from golf and worked as a loan officer in a real estate mortgage company.

However, Griffin never gave up on his dreams. In November 2021, he returned to competitive golf through the Korn Ferry Tour qualifying tournament. During the 2021-2022 season, he achieved notable results, including three runner-up finishes, which allowed him to qualify for the PGA Tour. This year, he has finally blossomed in his professional career. In April, he celebrated his first career win alongside his close friend Andrew Novick at the Zurich Classic, followed by victories at the Charles Schwab Challenge and now the Worldwide Technology Championship, achieving three wins this season alone.

Griffin is now one of only three players on the PGA Tour this year to have secured three or more wins, joining Scottie Scheffler with six wins and Rory McIlroy with three. His performance on the final day was nothing short of dramatic. Starting the round tied for third place, two strokes behind the leaders, he delivered an impressive performance with ten birdies and only one bogey, completing a thrilling comeback. His remarkable journey from the challenges of the past to the triumphs of today serves as an inspiring story for many.
