The Doosan Construction Weaves Golf Team has marked the birth of a new prestigious club with Yoorin Lees victory at the Sang-sang-In & Hankyung Wownet Open, achieving their fourth win of the season. They currently hold the second position in the KLPGA Tour team rankings, tied with Samchully, having achieved four wins this season, following Mediheals six wins. In just three years since its establishment, the team has firmly established itself as a top-tier club.
Yoorin Lee secured her first career victory on the 19th at the final round of the Sang-sang-In & Hankyung Wownet Open held at Lakewood CC in Yangju, defeating veteran player Park Ji-young in a thrilling playoff. This significant win came after her 81st tournament as a professional, and it also marks the fourth win for her team, Doosan Construction, this season.
In the third round, Yoorin set a course record with nine birdies and no bogeys, catapulting her to the top of the leaderboard. Entering the final round with high hopes for her first win, she struggled to maintain momentum, finishing one over par through the 16th hole. However, she regained her composure by scoring birdies on the last two holes, ending with a total of 12 under par, 276 strokes, which led to a playoff. After an intense playoff that reached five holes, she clinched the victory with an impressive 8.1-meter long putt, finishing off the seasons final major event with a win.
Yoorin expressed her joy, saying, "This victory has been a long-time dream, and I am truly happy and grateful. I dont know how to express this joy," as tears filled her eyes.
Notably, all players from Doosan Construction who secured wins this year achieved their first career victories. Yoorin Lee, who joined the KLPGA in 2022, has diligently worked her way up by qualifying through seed competitions each year. Recognizing her potential while she was a national representative, Doosan Construction signed her along with Park Hye-jun before the season, providing consistent support that has led to this momentous first win. Prior to Yoorins victory, Park Hye-jun won at the Lotte Open, and rookie Kim Min-sol secured titles at the BC Card & Hankyung Ladies Cup and Dongbu Construction Cup.
