Gyeongsangnam-do to Host Major Investment Attraction Event in Seoul
Gyeongsangnam-do will hold a large-scale investment attraction briefing on the 28th of this month at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, targeting businesses and investors from the capital region. Under the slogan Gyeongnam: A Great Place for Business, A Great Place for Investment, the event will showcase a comprehensive business platform where participants can experience the Gyeongnam-style investment ecosystem.
An investment promotion hall will be set up in the lobby of the venue, providing an overview of Gyeongsangnam-dos major industrial complexes and business support policies. Key sessions will introduce the regions industrial competitiveness, future vision, and investment incentives by sector. Tailored one-on-one consultations for businesses and on-site investment agreements are also expected to take place.
According to Gyeongsangnam-do, the province has established the Gyeongnam Investment Agency, a dedicated institution for attracting businesses, since the launch of the 8th popularly elected government. Additionally, the province has revised ordinances related to business and investment attraction to establish a top-tier investment incentive system in the country. The local investment promotion grant can reach up to 20 billion KRW (based on national funds), with special support cases for large-scale investment companies exceeding 30 billion KRW. To ease initial burdens on companies, interest-free loans for land purchase, tax reductions, and grants for facility investments are also provided.
The province aims to effectively promote its investment attractiveness as the heart of Koreas manufacturing industry, home to over 50,000 manufacturing companies. Gyeongsangnam-do ranks first nationally in the aerospace, defense, nuclear, and shipbuilding sectors, second in the machinery industry, and fifth in the automotive parts industry. Currently, there are 210 industrial complexes established in the province, with specialized industrial complexes emerging in various regions. Notable industrial clusters include the Gyeongnam Aerospace National Industrial Complex in Jinju and Sacheon, the Defense and Nuclear Fusion National Industrial Complex in Changwon, the Nano Fusion Industrial Complex in Miryang, the Gasan General Industrial Complex in Yangsan, and the Elevator Valley Industrial Special Zone in Geochang, all of which are organically linked by industry.
Through this event, Gyeongsangnam-do seeks to provide a platform for dialogue between local governments and potential investors, ultimately fostering a robust investment environment that supports sustainable economic growth.
