POSCO E&C Focuses on Safety and Quality Through On-Site Management Meetings
POSCO E&C is taking steps to find solutions for safety, quality, and a renewed leap forward through on-site management meetings. On the 26th, the company announced that it has held four On-Site Management Meetings at construction sites where serious accidents occurred this year, seeking answers for survival and a resurgence in safety.
This initiative is in line with the Safety First Management principle declared by Chairman Jang In-hwa of the POSCO Group, as well as the groups overall safety innovation approach. On August 1, POSCO Group established a Group Safety Special Inspection Task Force (TF) and last month launched a specialized safety subsidiary, POSCO Safety Solutions.
Chairman Jang has presided over three Group Safety Special Inspection Meetings since the first meeting held at the construction site of the Gwangmyeong-Seoul Expressway. He has also conducted surprise inspections at various sites, including the Gangwon Chuncheon Soyang Promotion Zone 2, the Seoul Shinbanpo 18th district, and the Cheonho 4th district redevelopment, continuing the companys commitment to safety management both inside and outside the group.
In line with the groups direction, POSCO E&C has strengthened its on-site execution capabilities. The company has transformed its previously executive-centered decision-making meetings into on-site discussion-type meetings, allowing all executives to visit accident sites to identify causes and discuss solutions with partner companies. Through these four meetings, specific issues at each site were diagnosed, and practical countermeasures were developed.
Additionally, the safety and health organization has been reorganized from a headquarters-centered system to a site-centered system. The Construction Safety Research Institute, the Safety and Health Planning Group, and the Smart Safety Technology Group are now linked with the R&D center to analyze the causes of accidents, improve systems, and apply AI technology for enhanced safety measures.
