YouTuber Lim Lara Hospitalized After Complications Post-Childbirth, Critiques Healthcare System
Former comedian and YouTuber Lim Lara recently shared her recovery journey after being hospitalized in the intensive care unit due to sudden postpartum hemorrhaging. In a video posted on her YouTube channel Enjoy Couple on the 26th, Lim Lara and her husband Son Min-soo expressed their gratitude and apologies for causing concern among their fans.
Lim Lara, who gave birth to twins on the 14th, experienced unexpected bleeding just nine days later, prompting an emergency room visit. Son Min-soo explained, "When we inquired, we were told that when carrying twins, the uterus expands significantly, and contractions can lead to such situations."
Lim Lara clarified, "It wasnt due to any mistakes during the cesarean section. I had a smooth recovery after giving birth on the 14th and had even received the go-ahead to start walking more after my final check-up with the obstetrician. Then, out of nowhere, I had to rush to the emergency room due to severe bleeding."
She admitted that some viewers might criticize her for filming during such a serious condition, stating, "I felt compelled to speak up because I realized that situations like this should not be repeated, and I hope for improvements in the healthcare system."
Recalling the tense situation, Lim Lara said, "There were no hospitals available to treat a mother experiencing severe postpartum hemorrhage. We had to travel 30 to 40 minutes back to the hospital where I gave birth because there were no emergency rooms willing to take me. I think I fainted at least ten times on the way there."
Son Min-soo added, "I dont know the exact circumstances, but I was terrified during the entire ordeal."
The couples candid discussion highlights the critical issues within the healthcare system, particularly regarding the availability of emergency services for postpartum complications, which can pose serious risks to mothers.
