K-Pop Star Rosé Makes History at MTV Video Music Awards with Two Wins

                            
                        In a historic moment for K-Pop, Rosé of the popular girl group BLACKPINK became the first K-Pop artist to win an award at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA). The awards ceremony took place on September 7, 2023, at the UBS Arena in New York City, where Rosé captured two prestigious awards.
Rosé won the award for Song of the Year for her collaboration with Bruno Mars on the track APT. This victory marks the first time a K-Pop artist has won in this category. Previously, in 2021, BTS was nominated for Song of the Year with their hit Dynamite but did not win.
The MTV VMAs, established by the American music television network MTV in 1984, celebrate the best in popular music. Dressed in a stunning golden dress, Rosé expressed her gratitude during her acceptance speech, stating, "I want to thank Bruno for believing in me and supporting me from the very beginning." She dedicated the trophy to her 16-year-old self who dreamed of becoming a singer, saying, "I dedicate this trophy to my younger self who chased this dream."
Rosé also shared her excitement with her fellow BLACKPINK members and producer Teddy, saying, "We won an award!" In addition to Rosés individual accolades, BLACKPINK also took home the award for Best Group, making Rosé a double winner at this years ceremony. The group had previously won in the same category in 2023, further solidifying their impact on the global music scene.
