Actor Kim Kwang-kyu Clarifies Misunderstandings About Hemorrhoids After Fourth Surgery

Actor Kim Kwang-kyu (57) has actively clarified misunderstandings regarding hemorrhoids, revealing that he underwent his fourth surgery due to a recurrence of the condition.
On the MBC show Radio Star aired on the 22nd, he made a surprising confession, stating, "I had hemorrhoid surgery earlier this year."
Host Kim Gura commented, "Thats part of aging. Over 50% of men over 60-70 years old are hemorrhoid patients," suggesting that it is a common ailment. Kim Kwang-kyu explained, "I first had hemorrhoid surgery at the military hospital after sitting on cold rocks during training, which caused the issue. After my discharge, I experienced a recurrence, and the doctor said, Who did this to you?" He continued, "I had two more surgeries after that, and now it has recurred again. This is my fourth surgery."
He further elaborated, "The reason I brought up hemorrhoids is that many people tend to hide it. Hemorrhoids are not a dirty disease, so I thought I should take the lead in normalizing the conversation around it."
As seen in Kim Kwang-kyus case, the frequent recurrence of hemorrhoids can be attributed to a combination of factors such as improper bowel habits, prolonged sitting, constipation and diarrhea, which all increase anal pressure, as well as issues related to lifestyle and diet.
Hemorrhoids refer to conditions like hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, and anal fissures. Hemorrhoids, which account for about 70% of patients, are a common anal condition caused by problems in the vascular tissue that alleviates the shock of bowel movements.
Repeated bowel movements and the habit of straining during defecation can create abdominal pressure and lead to an excessive buildup of blood in the venous layer of the anal canal. In this state, fecal matter can cause further complications, resulting in the conditions that Kim Kwang-kyu has faced.
