Moorim Completes Investment in Eco-Friendly High-Efficiency Recovery Boiler in Ulsan Plant

Moorim, a comprehensive company specializing in pulp, paper, and new materials, announced on the 23rd that it has completed the investment in a new eco-friendly high-efficiency recovery boiler at its Ulsan plant, and has begun full-scale operations. This facility is expected to save approximately 50 billion won in energy costs annually. Alongside greenhouse gas reduction, it is anticipated to accelerate improvements in the companys financial structure.
Moorim P&P is the only company in South Korea that produces pulp, a key raw material for paper. During the pulp manufacturing process, a biomass fuel known as black liquor is generated, which is converted into renewable energy such as electricity and steam, thus replacing fossil fuels in the production of its products.
The newly completed eco-friendly high-efficiency recovery boiler is a key device for transforming this black liquor into green energy. Moorim has been working on establishing this new boiler to replace existing facilities, and after approximately two years of construction, the investment has recently been completed.
The new eco-friendly high-efficiency recovery boiler incorporates the latest technology to significantly enhance efficiency. The company predicts that it will generate energy cost savings of around 50 billion won annually once commercial operation begins.
A company representative stated, "Excluding various external environmental variables and considering pure cost savings, we expect to recover the investment within approximately seven years. The completion of this new eco-friendly high-efficiency boiler will not only improve the profitability of Moorim P&P but also positively impact the financial health of its parent company, Moorim Paper."
