Korean Semiconductor Companies Showcase K-AI Chips at APEC Summit

At the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Summit in Gyeongju, leading domestic semiconductor companies, including Rebellion and FuriosaAI, are showcasing K-AI (Korean Artificial Intelligence) semiconductors. This initiative aims to actively promote the high potential of domestic AI semiconductors centered around Neural Processing Units (NPU).
Rebellion and FuriosaAI have set up a booth in the Korean Wave Advanced Future Industry Hall, operated by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), where they display the history of semiconductor technology. They introduce various innovations that are inseparable from the AI boom, including High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), AI semiconductors (NPU), medical AI, and robotic technologies to the APEC participants.
The theme presented by Rebellion is From Small Chips to Massive Data Centers, visualizing how AI semiconductors expand into data centers, contributing to the construction of efficient AI infrastructure. Key exhibits include the companys next-generation AI semiconductor Rebell Quad chip, cards, and the AtomMax card, which is already in commercial use by companies like SKT. A physical server rack equipped with Rebellions NPU server is also on display.
Visitors can visually confirm the advantages of NPUs, particularly their high performance-to-power consumption ratio, through an interactive exhibition.
A representative from Rebellion commented on their participation in the APEC exhibition, stating, "It is very significant for us to stand on the global stage as AI semiconductors grow alongside traditional sectors like memory and foundry within the semiconductor industry."
FuriosaAI is exhibiting its NXT RNGD server, composed of eight second-generation Renegade chips. The Renegade chip is recognized as being ahead in the commercialization stage among its global peers and is slated for mass production early next year.
A representative from FuriosaAI remarked on the importance of showcasing their advancements at APEC, emphasizing the companys commitment to leading the future of AI semiconductor technology. This conference serves as a vital platform for promoting domestic innovations and establishing Korea as a leader in the global semiconductor landscape.
